Outdoor Lab
In 2008, my Junior year in highschool, I was a counselor at Outdoor Lab for the sixth graders of Hackberry Hill Elementry School. This entailed preparing lesson plans, teaching, and supervising the kids.
CAS (Community, Action, and Service)
- Through the four years of the International Baccalaureate program I completed over 100 hours of Community Service.
- Additionally CAS requires hours of Action (soccer in my case) and Creativity to emphasize a balanced lifestyle.
Youth Group
Every year since seventh grade I have participated in my Youth group’s service trips, one each summer. Through this I have served in many places, including:
Denver Rescue Mission, DenUM (Denver Urban Ministries), New York, Wind River Reservation (Wyoming), Greater Chicago Food Bank, Guatemala with Pura Vida, Hogar del Niño (Lemoa, Guatemala), Las Vegas, Three Square
A special note, in 2009 I volunteered as an adult leader for the annual Denver Dive mission trip for the seventh and eighth graders. This entailed supervising the kids, preparing materials, and guiding their service projects.
